帮人即帮己

吉米是汽车修理工，但已失业好几个月了。他心地善良，但却对申请一份新工作心存恐惧。

一天，他鼓足勇气，决定参加一个面试。他的面试定在上午十点，时间已到了八点半。当他正在等公交去参加面试时，他看见一个老者正在疯狂地踢他的汽车轮胎。很显然，车出了毛病。吉米立刻走上去帮忙。吉米忙活完后，老者问他要多少服务费。吉米说无需付钱，他只是帮忙，他得去赶着参加一个面试。接着老人说：“嗯，我可以开车带你去参加面试。请给个机会吧，我只能为你做这些。”吉米答应了。

到达后，吉米发现参加面试的人排了长长的队伍。吉米身上还沾有修车留下的油污，他没有时间洗掉，也没有机会换件衬衫。面试者一个接一个地离开了面试室，面带失望之色。终于，吉米被叫了进去。面试者坐在一把面向窗子的大椅子上，在椅子上摇过来摇过去，他问：“你还需要面试吗？”吉米的心一沉。“以我现在的样子，怎么可能通过面试呢？”他暗暗地想。

随后，面试者把椅子转过去，令吉米吃惊地是，这正是他上午帮过的老者。原来他是这个公司的总经理。

“很抱歉，我不得不让你久等，但在你进这间办公室之前，我就对吸收你作为我们公司一员这一决定的正确性深信不疑。我知道你是个值得信赖的工人。祝贺你！”吉米谋到了份新工作，他坐下来，两人共同喝了杯当之无愧的咖啡。

Jimmy is an automotive mechanic, but he lost his job a few months ago. He has a good heart but he always feared applying for a new job.

One day, he gathered up all his strength, and decided to attend a job interview. His appointment was at 10 am and it was already 8:30. While waiting for a bus tothe office where he was supposed to be interviewed, he saw an elderly man wildly kicking the tyre of his car. Obviously there was something wrong with the car. Jimmy immediately went up to lend him a hand. When Jimmy finished working on the car, the old man asked him how much he should pay for the service. Jimmy said that there was no need to pay him; he just helped someone in need, and he had to rush for an interview. Then the old man said, “Well, I could take you to the office for your interview. It’s the least I could do.Please, I insist.” Jimmy agreed.

Upon arrival,Jimmy found a long line of applicants to be interviewed. Jimmy still had some grease on him after the car repair, but he didn’t have much time to wash off orhave a change of shirt. One by one, the applicants left the interviewer’s office with disappointed looks on their faces. Finally his name was called. The interviewer was sitting in a large chair facing the office window. Rocking the chair back and forth, he asked, “Do you really need to be interviewed?” Jimmy’sheart sank. “With the way I look now, how could I possibly pass the interview?”He thought to himself.

Then the interviewer turned the chair and to Jimmy’s surprise, it was the old man he helped earlier in the morning. It turned out he was the General Manager of the company.

“sorry, I had to keep you waiting, but I was pretty sure I made the right decision to have you as part of our workforce before you even stepped into the office. I just know you’d be a trustworthy worker. Congratulations!” Jimmy sat down and they shared a well-deserved coffee as he landed him a new job.
