一小时时光

一位男子又回家很晚，疲劳而烦躁。他发现五岁的儿子等在门口迎接他。“爸爸，我可以问你一个问题吗？”
“当然可以，什么问题？”男子答道。
“爸爸，你一小时挣多少钱？”
“少管闲事。你怎么会想起问这种事情？”男子生气地说。
“我就是想知道，请告诉我吧，你一小时挣多少钱？”小男孩恳求道。
“如果你一定要知道，我告诉你，我一小时挣二十美元。” “噢，”小男孩答道，垂下了脑袋。
过了一会儿，小男孩抬起头来，说：“爸爸，我能借十美元吗？”
父亲很生气。“如果你想知道我挣多少钱的唯一目的，就是衡量一下你可以买多少愚蠢的玩具和毫无价值的东西，那么立刻回你的卧室去睡觉。反省一下你怎么这么自私。我每天工作时间又长又辛苦，没有时间听你这些小孩子的把戏。”
小男孩静静地回到了自己的房间，关上了门。男子坐下来，对小男孩的问题感到更加生气了。只是为了要点钱，他怎敢问这样的问题。过了大约一小时，男子平静下来，开始认为也许自己对孩子过于苛刻了。也许他真有什么东西需要买才要那十美元的，这孩子并是不经常和自己要钱。男子走向孩子的卧室，打开了房门。
“睡了吗，儿子？”他问。
“还没有，爸爸。我还没睡。”男孩答道。
“我想，也许刚才对你太苛刻了。”男子说。
“这一天很长，我把邪火发在了你身上。这是你要的十美元。”
小男孩坐了起来，眉开眼笑。“谢谢你，爸爸。”他叫道。
然后，小男孩从枕头下面掏出几张皱巴巴的钞票来。看到小男孩自己有钱，男子又开始生起气来。小男孩一张一张地数着钱。抬头看着男子。“你自己有钱，为什么还向我要钱？”父亲抱怨着。
“因为我的钱不够，不过现在够了。”小男孩答道。
“爸爸，我现在有二十美元，我可以买你一个小时的时间吗？”
和你所爱的人一起度过价值二十美元的时光……对于所有为了谋生而辛勤工作的人，这是一个小小的提醒。不要让时间从指间白白溜走，而不能同那些对我们真正重要的人一起度过一段美好时光。
附：原文 A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door. "Daddy, may I ask you a question?" "Yeah, sure,what is it?" replied the man. "Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?" "That's none of your business. What makes you ask such a thing?" the man said angrily. "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?" pleaded the littleboy. "If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour." "Oh,"the little boy replied, head bowed. Looking up, he said, "Daddy, may I borrow $10.00 please?" The father was furious. "If the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you're being so selfish. I work long, hard hours every day and don't have time for such childish games." The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boy's questioning. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money. After an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think he may have been a little hard on his son. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $10.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door. "Are you asleep son?" he asked. "No daddy,I'm awake," replied the boy. "I've been thinking, may be I was too hard on you earlier," said the man. "It's been along day and I took my aggravation out on you. Here's that $10.00 you asked for." The little boy sat straight up, beaming. "Oh, thank you daddy" he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some more crumpled up bills. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at the man. "Why did you want more money if you already had some? " the father grumbled. "Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied. "Daddy, I have $20.00 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?" Share $20.00 worth of time with someone you love...just a short reminder to all of us working so hard for our living. However, let us not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some quality time with those who really matter to us.
