光阴如石 一掷难返

孟加拉国有个农民正在翻地，一掘头下去，他的工具突然停在了一个地方。出于好奇，他决定看看地下藏着什么。他继续挖下去，发现了一个大箱子。打开一看，他大失所望，里面只有一些黑石头。他认为这此黑石没用，就决定等到秋收时节，鸟来吃庄稼时，用这些黑石来打鸟。
收获的这一天终于到了，小鸟们来吃粮食，农民就开始把黑石朝着鸟飞来的方向扔过去。 一天，一个卖珍珠、钻石等珠宝的人路过这块地，农民打鸟的两块黑石正巧落在他面前。这个人把黑石拿到农民面前，问农民是否愿意以每块五万美元的价格卖给他。 农民以为他在开玩笑，因此说：“不愿意。”但是这个人坚持每块出价五万美元购买，并解释说这些是珍贵的珠宝。这时，农民放声大哭，说他只剩下一、两块黑石了，其它的全部扔掉了。 其实，每一寸光阴都价值连城，而我们却在虚掷光阴。当有一天我们意识到光阴的价值时，总是为时已晚。因此，要抓住机会，合理利用我们现在的时光。

A farmer in Bangladesh was preparing his land for planting crops. As he dug through the soil, the equipment suddenly stopped in one place. Out of curiosity, he decided to check out what was hidden in the ground. He continued digging the ground and discovered a big box. The farmer quickly opened the box to see what was in it, but to his surprise, there was only black stones inside the box. He thought the stones were useless, so he decided to throw them at the birds when they came to eat the crops at the time of harvesting. Finally the day came when the crops were ready and the birds came to eat them. So he started throwing the stones at the birds from wherever they appeared. One day a man was walking by the field who sells precious stones such as pearls, diamonds and so on. Two stones happened to fall right in front of him when the farmer threw them at the birds. The man brought the black stones to the farmer and asked if he was willing to sell them to him for $50000 each. The farmer thought that the man was joking, so he replied “No.”But the man insisted on offering $50000 for each stone and explained they were precious jewels. Now the farmer started crying and said that he had only one or two stones left as he had thrown the rest away. In fact, every second of our time is very valuable. Today, we are just throwing them away here and there. But on the day of, we will realize how valuable they were, but it will be too late. Now it is chance to use our time properly. |
