完美的心

有一天，一个年轻人站在村镇中心，宣称自己有整个山谷里最完美的心。一大群人聚拢过来，大家都因他的心完美无缺而赞叹不已。他的心上一点瑕疵也没有。
突然一个老人出现在面前，对他说：“嗨，你的心远没有我的心美丽！”
大家和年轻人一起看了看老人的心，上面伤痕累累。有些地方被挖走，又有新的部分补充进来，但是不太吻合，边缘留有锯齿状疤痕。事实上，有些地方留有深深的缺口，整块整块的心不见了。
年轻人笑了。“比比这两颗心，我的完美无缺，而你的却伤痕累累。”
“说得对，”老人说：“你的心看上去完美无损。但我却永远也不会和你交换。你瞧，每道疤痕都代表一个我曾爱过的人。我撕下一片自己的心，送给他们，他们通常也会送我一片他们的心，安放在我心的空白地方。
“但由于给出的心和收回的心并不完全对等，边缘就会有些粗糙的疤痕，而这正是我珍视的地方，因为这些疤痕让我想起我们曾经分享过的爱。
“有时我把一片一片的心送给了别人，对方却没有把他/她的心给我。这里是那些缺口——付出爱是一种冒险。
“尽管这些缺口很痛，它们一直都在，提醒着我曾经对那些人付出的爱，我也一直期待着有一天他们会回头，添补这些心的空白。现在，你懂得真正的美是什么了吗？”
年轻人走到老人身边，把手伸向他完美的心脏，撕下一片来，递给了老人。
老人把它安放在自己的心里，然后从自己疤痕累累的苍老的心里取下一片安放在年轻人的伤口上。它放了进去，但并不完全吻合，边缘出现了一些锯齿状疤痕。
年轻人看着自己的心，它不再完美,但比任何时候都更美丽，因为来自老人心中的爱在他心里流淌。他们抱在一起，肩并肩地离开了。
终其一生，心还完好无损，何其可悲！
附：原文 A Perfect Heart One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered, and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a flaw in it. Suddenly,an old man appeared and said, "Why, your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine!" The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was full of scars. It had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right, and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing. The young man laughed. "Comparing your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars." "Yes,"said the old man, "Yours looks perfect but I would never trade with you.You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love. I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart that fits into the empty place in my heart. "But because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish,because they remind me of the love we shared. "SometimesI have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn't returned a piece of his or her heart to me. These are the empty gouges - giving love is taking a chance. "Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for those people too, and I hope some day they may return and fill the space I've been waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?" The young man walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect heart, and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man. The old man placed it in his heart, then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly,as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect any more but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into his. They embraced and walked away side by side. How sad it must be to go through life with a whole untouched heart! |
