藏金如藏石

在一个小村里有个守财奴，他一生的乐趣唯有挣钱。当他卖掉包括房子，田产在内的一切后，他把所得的全部钱财铸成一大块金子，埋在地下。他每天最大的乐趣就是到埋金地点，和他的宝贝呆上一会儿。
有一天，一个偶然来这个村的人，碰巧看到这个人在兴冲冲地掘地。夜幕降临，这个陌生人来到埋金地点，开始挖掘。让人大为惊喜的是，他挖出了金子。他决定立即携金离去。第二天，守财奴来看他的金子，发现金子不翼而飞，非常惊恐。极度痛苦中，他像疯了一样开始骂街。这时，一个路人走过来，问他因何悲伤，他把自己的故事原原本本讲了一遍。路人安慰他说：“你大可不必为丢金而哭泣。我认为你的损失并没有你想象的那样大。在埋金地点埋上一块同样大小的石头，并把石头看作你丢的金子。你几乎分不出石头和金子的区别。因为在你这种情况下，石头和金子的效能是没有区别的。 幸福并不在于拥有多少钱，而在于如何有效地使用这些钱。 附：原文 There was a very stingy man in a small village. He had mo other pleasure but that of making money. After he sold his all, namely, his house and fields, he forged all the money he received into a mass of gold, and buried it in the ground. Every day he visited the spot and stayed there with his treasure for a while, which was his daily greatest pleasure. One day a man who occasionally came to the neighbourhood happened to see this stingy man digging up the earth with pleasure. When night fell the man went there and dug the earth. To his astonishment, he found a buried treasure. He decided to set out with it right away. When the stingy man came to the spot the following day, he found his treasure missing, to his great surprise. With great pain, he cursed people like a mad man. When a passer-by asked his about his sorrow, he told him his story in great detail, and the passer-by tried to comfort him, saying, “You need cry over your loss of treasure. I think your loss is not so great as you think. Bury in that place a stone of the same size in place of your mass of gold, and regard it as your lost one. You will hardly tell the difference between the two, because as far as your are concerned, gold is nothing but a stone in terms of usefulness.” Happiness doesn’t consist in owning money, but in reasonable using it. |
