彩虹的色彩

从前，世上的颜色争吵起来，都说自己最重要，最有用，最可爱。
绿色说：“毫无疑问我最重要。我是生命和希望的符号。我当选为草木，叶子的颜色。没有我，动物会无法生存。放眼乡野，我是主旋律。”
蓝色插嘴说：“你只想到了地上，想想天空和海洋。水是生命之源，水是靠云从深海中汲取的。天空给人以空间、宁静和祥和。没有宁静，你会一钱不值。”
黄色轻声笑了起来：“你们都如此一本正经！我给世界带来了笑声、欢乐和温暖。太阳是黄色，月亮是黄色，星星是黄色。每次人们看到葵花，整个世界都开始微笑。没有我，世界会了无生趣。”
接下来是橙色开始自吹自擂：“我是健康和力量的颜色。我的数量可能不多，但我很宝贵，因为我满足了人类生活需要。我带来了最重要的维生素。想想胡萝卜、南瓜、橙子、芒果和木瓜。我逗留的时间不长，但每当黎明和黄昏由我添满天空时，我的美是如此引人注目，谁还会再看你们一眼。”
红色再也无法忍受，他喊了出来：“我是你们的统帅，我是血即生命的颜色！我是危险和勇敢的颜色。我乐于为理想而战。我给血液注入了激情。没有我，世界将会像月球一样虚无！我是激情和爱的颜色，是红玫瑰，一品红和罂粟的颜色。”
紫色昂首挺胸，他身材高大，说话很气派：“我是王室和权力的象征。国王、首领和主教总是选择我，因为我是权威和智慧的标志。没有人会质问我，他们只是倾听和服从。”
最后，靛蓝才说话，语气比其它颜色都平和，但同样坚定：“想想我，我是沉默的颜色。你们几乎注意不到我，但没有我，你们会流于表面。我代表深思和内省，是薄暮和深水的颜色。你们需要平衡和对照，需要祈祷和内心宁静。”
就这样颜色们争论不休，都想说服别人自己更胜一筹。他们的争吵声越来越大。突然，电闪雷鸣，大雨倾盆。七种颜色吓得蜷伏在一处，寻求安慰。在一片嘈杂声中，只听雨说：“愚蠢的颜色们，内哄什么，都想主宰别人。难道不知道你们都是为了一个目的而创造，独一无二而与众不同吗？携起手，到我这来。”在雨的命令下，七种颜色携起手来。雨继续说：“从现在起，每当下雨，你们都要以美丽的拱形绵延在天空，提醒自己你们可以和平共处。彩虹是明日之希望的标志。”每当甘霖冲刷世界，彩虹现于天际时，请记住要彼此欣赏。
附：原文 Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel: all claimed that they were the most important, the most useful, the favorite. Greensaid: "Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope.I was chosen for the grass, trees, leaves- without me, all animals would die.Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority. Blue interrupted: "You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing" Yellow chuckled: "You are all so serious! I bring laughter, gaiety , and warmth into the world. The sunis yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to Smile. Without me there would be nofun!" Orange started next to blow her trumpet : "I am the color of Health and Strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges,mangoes and pawpaw.I don't hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset,my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you." Red could stand it no longer: He shouted out, "I am the ruler of all of you- Iam blood- life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon! I am the color of passion and love the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy." Purple rose up to his full height: He was very tall and spoke with great pomp:" I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, Chiefs, and Bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me they listen and obey" Finally, Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination: Think Of Me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need be for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace" And so the color went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash ofbright lightening- thunder rolled and boomed, Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort. In the midst of the clamor, Rain began to speak, "You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different?Join hands with one another and come to me. Doing as they were told, the color united and joined hands. The rain continued, "From now on, when it rains,each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The rainbow is a sign of hope of tomorrow." And as Whenever a good rain washes the world and a Rainbow appears in the sky let us remember to appreciate one another. |
